Islamabad: There has been a relief news for the people of Pakistan who are continuously suffering from shortage of natural gas. The country’s Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) on Monday announced the discovery of significant oil and gas reserves in Sindh’s Daharki district. The Shawal-1 well, drilled in January 2024, reached a total depth of 1,136 metres, the company said. This well is producing 1,040 barrels of oil and 2.5 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

MPCL CEO Faheem Haider considered this success as a milestone for all the geologists and engineers who used the latest technologies in geo-earth exploration. This latest success follows MPCL’s January 2024 gas discovery in the North Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The Sheva-2 appraisal-cum-exploration well demonstrated a steady flow of gas maintaining a flow rate of 0.607 million cubic feet.

Earlier, the country’s state-owned petroleum giant Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) had announced the discovery of substantial natural gas reserves in Sindh’s Sajawal district in November 2023. According to Express News, the breakthrough came after PPL conducted a drilling campaign to a depth of 2,545 meters at Shah Bunder in the Jhum East forest location.

Dozens Of Protesters Arrested At Yale And New…

Dozens of protesters were arrested at New York University as tensions escalated over anti-Israel demonstrations on campus. The clash between pro-Palestinian protesters and police occurred as authorities intervened to dismantle an anti-Israel “liberated zone,” sparking outrage and arrests.

Similar protests have been taking place at universities across the United States, with students expressing their opposition to Israel’s actions in Gaza and calling for their institutions to cut ties with the country. The demonstrations have been organized by groups such as Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), who have been actively pressuring universities to take a stand against Israel.

The response from university administrations has varied, with some like NYU calling the police to disperse the protesters, resulting in arrests and riot charges. Meanwhile, other schools like the University of Southern California have canceled speakers in an attempt to defuse tensions.

The protests have drawn attention from political figures, with US President Joe Biden condemning the rise of anti-Semitism during the demonstrations. Biden emphasized the need to address this issue while also acknowledging the plight of the Palestinians in the conflict.

The events have highlighted the deep divides within communities, with incidents of physical and verbal violence being reported.

Biden: Iran Wants To Destroy Israel And We…

Washington – US President Job Biden said yesterday, Wednesday, that the United States will not stand idly by if Iran escalates its attack on Israel on a large scale, and Washington may be drawn into the confrontation.

Biden said, in an article with the Wall Street Journal: “The Israeli army possesses the technology necessary for defense… Iran wants to destroy Israel and erase the only Jewish state in the world, and we will not allow that.”

He added: “If Iran escalates its attack on Israel significantly, the United States may be drawn into it – Israel is our strongest partner in the region, and we will not stand idly by if it is attacked and its defenses are weakened.”

Iran said that its armed forces were ready to repel any attack from Israel, and the air force said it was on standby. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi also warned that “the smallest attack” from Israel would lead to a “huge and harsh” response, at a time when the region is preparing. An Israeli counterattack, in response to an attack launched by Iran, last Saturday.

Raisi said on Wednesday at the Iranian army’s annual military parade that any Israeli move against his country,

Possible Ban For All Trucks On The A7…

#ban #trucks #continue #break #rules

Few people will have noticed, but the bridge over the Noordhollandsch Kanaal near Purmerend will be urgently renovated until September because the supports are too weak. During the work, a maximum weight of 25 tons applies, but this is ignored by many truckers. For days, the police have been picking one truck after another off the A7 because they are too heavy.

What will Rijkswaterstaat do if those overweight trucks continue to drive over the bridge?

“Then we will tighten the weight restriction. We are now saying 25 tons, but that can be even lower and then you will also move towards a ban for unloaded trucks. Then it will also be easier to enforce.”

What do you think about so many trucks ignoring the weight restriction?

“Very worrying. It is simply not possible for too many heavy trucks to continue driving. A large number do comply with the ban, but far too many do not. We have spoken to transporters in the region about this.

A quiet afternoon in the city of West Covina was shattered by a heinous act of violence, as a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was mercilessly shot while sitting on his motorcycle at an intersection on Monday. The incident has left residents shocked and authorities scrambling to find the perpetrator.

According to Sheriff Robert Luna, Deputy Samuel Aispuro, 43, was patiently waiting for the traffic light when he was suddenly struck by a bullet in the back. Startlingly, there appeared to be no prior interaction between Deputy Aispuro and the suspect. The motive behind this brazen attack remains unknown.

“He was sitting on a marked black and white police motorcycle in full uniform and he was shot in the back,” stated Sheriff Luna with evident disbelief.

Fortunately, Deputy Aispuro managed to call for assistance before being rushed to a nearby hospital. His quick thinking may have saved his own life because of his body armor. However, this harrowing incident serves as yet another shocking reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face every day while protecting their communities.

An Account From Eyewitnesses:
