Traffic Accident Causes Delays on Route to Pacific

Two heavy transport vehicles collided early this morning,causing significant traffic disruptions on the road to the Pacific,notably affecting commuters heading to Guatemala City.
Early this morning, a collision involving two heavy transport vehicles at kilometer 18 on the Route to the Pacific caused major traffic delays, especially for those traveling towards Guatemala City. According to the spokeswoman for the Municipal Traffic police of Villa Nueva (PMT), Dalia Santos, crews were dispatched to the scene around 4:00 a.m., and by 7:00 a.m., one of the obstructing vehicles had been successfully moved.
According to Santos, both vehicles sustained ample damage in the incident on the Route to the Pacific. The cause of the accident remains unknown, and no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Santos stated that the PMT of Villa Nueva implemented their emergency plan and have been working since early morning to expedite traffic flow in the area. she urged drivers to follow the instructions of traffic agents as efforts continue to remove the second vehicle involved.

To facilitate smoother traffic flow, the PMT of Villa Nueva announced on social media that crews are working to clear the lanes. The goal is to reopen the route as quickly as possible to minimize disruption for residents commuting to work.
Santos also acknowledged the efforts of the Municipality of Villa nueva’s public services in cleaning up diesel fuel spilled onto the road as an inevitable result of the collision.
