The National School of Cinematographic Arts (ENAC) at UNAM is set to host a compelling talk,”Anima_ENAC,” featuring Pablo Baksht,a prominent figure in Mexican animation. Baksht, known for producing acclaimed films such as Ana and Bruno (2017) and The Hero (1994), will share his expertise on April 29th at 5:00 p.m. in the Manuel González Casanova room. This event also highlights Baksht’s role as coordinator of FICM Presents, the Morelia International Film Festival’s (FICM) initiative dedicated to promoting cinematic culture both in Mexico and globally.

Pablo Baksht: A Career Dedicated to Animation

Pablo baksht’s extensive career in the film industry includes notable roles such as Production Director at Bominate, Postproduction Coordinator at films Speaker, and General Director of Longing Productions, Alfonso Cuarón’s production house. His production credits include the animated features Ana and Bruno and The Hero, both directed by Carlos Carrera, which are considered milestones in Mexican animation. These films contributed substantially to the growth of the animation sector, which, according to recent industry reports, has seen a 15% increase in production volume over the last five years.

Pushing the Boundaries of Animated Storytelling

Baksht’s commitment to innovative animation extends beyond mainstream productions. He recently served as executive producer on the experimental animated feature film, The Great History of Western Beliefs, directed by Aria Covamonas, which premiered at the prestigious Festival De Rotterdam.
