Amid Tensions, Zelensky Fired Ukraines Popular Military Chief.…

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the dismissal of the country’s top commander, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, in the largest military shake-up since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion almost two years ago. This comes after a failed counteroffensive and with Ukraine facing renewed Russian attack, manpower and ammunition shortages, and stalled U.S. aid. Zelensky has stated that it is time for a renewal within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Zaluzhnyi’s replacement will be Oleksandr Syrskyi, who has served as commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces since 2019.

Tensions between the two have been mounting for months, but differences intensified after Zaluzhnyi said the war had reached a stalemate. Zelensky’s office criticized these comments, and they later disagreed over the need for mass mobilization, with Zelensky resisting the army chief’s suggestion for up to half a million recruits.

Zaluzhnyi’s dismissal is a gamble for Zelensky, as the general remains one of Ukraine’s most popular leaders. Warnings about reduced military support from key allies and struggles with the defense industry have been made by Zaluzhnyi, who also urged for drone mastery as a way to avoid a “positional war.”

Syrskyi, who will replace Zaluzhnyi, has had a long military career and led the successful counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region last year.

Kristf Rasovszky Became World Champion In 10 Kilometers…

Kristóf Rasovszky won a gold medal and Dávid Betlehem won an Olympic quota in the open water swimmers’ 10-kilometer competition on Sunday at the World Championships in Doha, reports MTI.

With this, Rasovszky won the second world championship title of his career, but he was able to win for the first time in the 10-kilometer Olympic event, in 2019 he won the gold medal in the 5-kilometer race in Gwangju. The 26-year-old swimmer won the silver medal in this event at the Fukuoka World Championships last year, and as in the Tokyo Olympics, he was also overtaken by the German Florian Wellbrock, but this time his rival was well behind, finishing in 29th place.

“I came here after last year’s World Cup thinking that I would like to win a medal again, which would be a good start to the year, so I tried to do as much as possible. Here, the conditions were very favorable for me, as there was a little wind, waves and the water was cooler than usual,” said Rasovszky after the race, adding that in Paris he will continue to focus only on the podium, because as it seemed, apart from that those who already had an Olympic quota did not perform very well,

MOSCOW – A powerful explosion rocked a weapons factory in Udmurt, Russia. The factory produces components for intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and nuclear weapons.

The explosion at the Votkinsk weapons factory occurred on Wednesday and videos of the incident have been shared by local residents on Telegram since Thursday.

Quoting the report Kyiv PostFriday (9/2/2024), the factory produces advanced weapons including the RS-24 Yars intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) and strategic ballistic missiles for the Topol-M and Iskander systems—all of which can be equipped with nuclear warheads.

Report from news agency TASS said that the emergency services agency had announced that the explosion was caused by a scheduled rocket engine test.

“This was a planned incident, not an emergency,” the report said.

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) noted that there was no mention of a test schedule on the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry website,

Russian President Vladimir Putin Claims US Involvement In…

In terrorist attacks like the Nord Streams, we must look for those who are interested and could have done it. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson in the Kremlin.

During the interview Tucker Carlson asked Vladimir Putin about who blew up Nord Stream.

“You, of course,” the Russian President laughed.

“I was busy that day. “I didn’t blow up Nord Stream,” replied the American journalist.

Vladimir Putin explained that Tucker Carlson may have an alibi, but the CIA does not.

“You know, I won’t go into details, but in such cases they always say: look for someone who is interested. But in this case, we need to look not only for someone who is interested, but also for someone who can do it. Because there may be many interested, but not everyone can climb to the bottom of the Baltic Sea and carry out this explosion. These two components must be connected: who is interested and who can,” said the Russian leader.

In his opinion, even evidence of the organization and execution of the largest terrorist attack on industrial facilities in history will now play little role.
