Oscars to YouTube: Streaming Deal & 2029 Date Revealed

And the Oscar goes to: YouTube – from 2029 🤝 Yesterday the news was dropped that the Oscars are leaving linear television and will be streamed on the social platform YouTube in the future. A bang for the industry and quite honestly: if even the Oscars no longer take place on classic TV, it somehow feels like a change of power. Because YouTube no longer attacks television. YouTube is about to become ✨ TV ✨. But that’s actually not surprising. According to Nielsen, YouTube is already the largest moving image distributor in the USA on TV screens – measured by watchtime. Not just in the social feed. But on the largest screen in the household. More watch time than individual classic TV networks! The exciting thing about it: For me as a social marketer, TV has always meant a reach that I can’t clearly control. YouTube is reach with data, targeting and a learning curve – basically TV on steroids. What the switch from broadcast to streaming changes for marketers: 👉🏼 Media can be controlled much more efficiently 👉🏼 Commercials can be tested and scaled like social creatives 👉🏼 The TV future is social first – on the television screen. ❓ What do you think, what did I forget?
