Oscar Colas’s time with the Chicago White Sox has come to an end. The team released the Cuban player on Saturday, May 24, during the MLB 2025 season.

Francys Romero, a Cuban journalist, reported the news on X, stating: “chicago’s white socks released the Cuban gardener Oscar its 2022 international star signing.”

Colas signed with the Chicago franchise for 2.3 million dollars. He debuted in the 2023 season, playing in 75 games. While he received another prospect in 2024,he did not perform to expectations.

This season in MiLB, across various chicago affiliates, he played 29 games, recording 16 hits, one home run, 13 runs, and 12 RBIs. His offensive stats included a .163 batting average, a .245 on-base percentage,and a .255 slugging percentage.

Colas Joins List of Cubans Leaving Chicago

Oscar Colas’s departure follows that of fellow Cuban Yoan Moncada, who also concluded his time with the Chicago organization. The team had previously featured multiple Cuban players, including Luis Robert Jr. and Miguel Vargas in 2024.

During his time in The Major, the Cuban outfielder hit five home runs, scored 33 runs, and had 23 RBIs in 278 plate appearances, with a .223 average and .580 OPS,earning over three million dollars.
