Météo France placed, on Sunday November 16, the departments of Drôme, Isère, Ardèche and Alpes-Maritimes on orange alert for rain and the risk of flooding
After an orange alert on Saturday on the Loire, the Rhône and the Ardèche, lifted at the beginning of the afternoon without significant damage reported, “new stormy rains are returning to the south-east of the country and will once again significantly water the plains of Ardèche and Drôme, as well as the Alpes Maritimes and part of Isère”according to the latest bulletin from the forecast agency. Orange alert is issued from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Météo France specifies that “It is above all the intensity of the precipitation which must be monitored”. In Drôme, Isère and Ardèche, “50 to 70 millimeters of rain” are expected in six to nine hours, or locally more.” In the Alpes-Maritimes department, numerous rainy spells are expected to occur during the day “with high intensities at times, especially towards the coast and the first reliefs”. Of the “accumulations ranging from 80 to 120 millimeters are expected, with possible peaks of nearly 150 millimeters”.
“Uncertainty concerns the risk of heavy precipitation in the east of the Var” adds the weather service, inviting people to monitor the next bulletins.
