George Clooney has found his refuge in the south of France. Completely away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood and photographers, the actor, along with his wife, Amal Clooney, and their children, has settled in Brignoles, a peaceful town in the region of … Provence.
The estate, which the ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ singer himself calls a “farm”, is an imposing rural residential complex with all the Provençal charm. Under the name ‘Domaine du Canadel‘, the property has more than 900 square meters built, located in an 18th century mansion that is spread over three floors connected by a stone staircase. It has a swimming pool, a private forestvineyards, a lake, a tennis court and, finally, its main charm, a lavender field
The olive grove, another of the estate’s attractions, has about a hundred trees. In addition, the family has other outdoor spaces such as picnic areasplay areas and a petanque court. Although at the moment it has not been revealed how many bedrooms and bathrooms the house has, what is known is that it was remodeled in the mid-1990s.
In a recent interview with ‘Esquire’, the actor explained that the decision to move to France was motivated by the desire to offer his children a different childhood, away from the media spotlight and everything that comes with living in Los Angeles. «We are very lucky, We live on a farm in France. A lot of my life as a kid was on a farm and I hated it, but now, for them, it’s different: they’re not glued to the iPad. They dine with adults and have to clear their plates. They have a much better life,” he confessed.
In addition, Clooney spoke about the cultural difference between the United States and Europe: “In France, people don’t give a damn about fame,” he said, ensuring that there they can enjoy a more normal life, without the paparazzi or the constant pressure that accompanies Hollywood stars.
Brignloes, the heart of Provence
The environment where the Clooneys live is as charming as their house. Brignoles is a town that preserves all the spirit of Provence: cobblestone streets, squares with shady terraces, local product markets and a community in which everyone knows each other.
Agricultural fairs, harvest festivals and rural traditions are part of the daily life of the place. A perfect setting for a family that, despite fame, seeks normality.
It is not the first time that the actor has chosen to live next to a lake or surrounded by nature. For years, his best-known residence was Villa Oleandraon the banks of the Lake Comoin Italy, a property that was finally put up for sale in 2023.
Finally, it should be noted that this change has not meant a professional retirement for Clooney, who remains linked to cinema and theater. From his French estate, the actor has continued to develop projects as a producer, director and screenwriter, alternating his work commitments with family life.
