– We expect the state to stop activity on the fields immediately. No one is above the law, not even the state, says Frode Pleym, head of Greenpeace Norway.
The state’s appeal was not successful in the Borgarting Court of Appeal in the case concerning the development of the three oil fields Breidablikk, Tyrving and Yggdrasil.
Thus, the Court of Appeal reaches the same conclusion as the Oslo district court did in January 2024.
Greenpeace and Natur og Ungdom won in the district court on all points in the lawsuit against the state regarding permits for the development of the three oil fields Breidablikk, Tyrving and Yggdrasil in the North Sea.
However, the state appealed the judgment to the Court of Appeal, but it too has assessed in favor of the environmental organisations.
The state is now required to redo the impact assessments.
