WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Liberty Township woman accused of stabbing a man during an argument in Niles received her sentence.

Cheyenne Jefferson, 28, was sentenced to three years of probation, beginning with a stint in NEOCAP. She must also pay $57 restitution to the Niles Police Department for damages, according to a spokesperson for the Trumbull County Prosecutor’s Office.

Jefferson received the sentence in Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas Judge Ronald Rice’s courtroom on Tuesday. She pleaded guilty to an amended indictment on count of attempted felonious assault, criminal damaging and obstructing official business on Oct. 29, according to court records.

Niles police arrested Jefferson on May 26 after they were called to the area of Lafayette Avenue and Harris Street for a reported disturbance. When they arrived, they found Jefferson fighting with a man on the front porch of a home in the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue.

The man told police that Jefferson stabbed him in the face with a knife after she came to the house with the knife and a pair of scissors.

A witness who was there also reported seeing Jefferson stab the man while he was trying to get her to leave, the report stated.

Jefferson told police that the man had pointed a gun at her earlier. She said she left after that but admitted to returning with the knife and scissors, according to a police report.

The knife and scissors were found on the front porch of the home. Police did find a gun in the man’s pocket and took it for safekeeping during the investigation, according to the report.

Police said during her arrest, Jefferson tried to break the window of the police cruiser on the way to the jail, and she tried to run away once they arrived at the jail.
