The head of the Odesa regional military administration, Oleg Kiper, commented that this was “another cynical crime of Russia – an attack on peaceful people.” He added that he recommends drivers to avoid driving on the bridge near the village of Mayaki. The Russian army has already attacked the site three times.

The collapse of the bridge could lead to fuel shortages
Russian strikes on bridges in Odesa region could block 60% of Ukraine’s fuel imports. This will quickly lead to gasoline shortages and higher prices, fuel expert Dmitry Leushkin, founder of the Prime group of companies, said on Facebook. According to him, if the Mayaki bridge is completely destroyed, access to Izmail from the main part of Odesa region and vice versa will be possible only through neighboring Romania.
“We will put pontoons, they will knock them down, which will disrupt logistics with Izmail, and I don’t know about other markets, but the fuel market will definitely collapse quickly. Izmail represents 60% of the market, and its closure in this way will increase western prices by at least 2 UAH already on Monday, creating a serious shortage of fuel tankers and leading to the gradual closing of gas stations, starting from the eastern and southern regions,” noted Leushkin.
On the Ukrainian and Moldovan sides, they say they are looking for detour routes.
