According to Turkish Statistical Institute data, considering the 12-month averages in October, consumer prices increased by 37.15 percent and domestic producer prices increased by 25.49 percent.

On a monthly basis, CPI increased by 2.55 percent and D-PPI increased by 1.63 percent.

CPI increased by 28.63 percent in October compared to December last year and by 32.87 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

There was an increase of 25.67 percent in PPI compared to December 2024 and 27 percent compared to October last year.

Thus, CPI fell to the lowest level of the last 47 months on an annual basis. The index in question was recorded as 21.31 percent in November 2021.

With the announcement of October inflation data, the rent increase rate became clear. The rent increase rate for homes and workplaces in November was determined as 37.15 percent.

On the other hand, D-PPI, which forms the basis of the revaluation rate determined by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, increased by 25.49 percent compared to 12-month averages at the end of October.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made an evaluation about the announced inflation figures. Minister Şimşek said, “There may be temporary fluctuations in the disinflation process. Although a slowdown has been observed recently, the general picture has not changed. We expect disinflation to continue thanks to supportive global and domestic conditions.” he said.

EXPECTATIONS

Economists participating in the AA Finance Inflation Expectations Survey had predicted that CPI would increase by 2.69 percent in October. According to this average, annual inflation was calculated to decrease to 33.05 percent.

According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data, PPI increased by 1.63 percent in October compared to the previous month, by 25.67 percent compared to December last year, by 27 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and by 25.49 percent according to 12-month averages.

When the annual changes in the 4 sectors of the industry are examined, there was an increase of 31.79 percent in mining and quarrying, 26.91 percent in manufacturing, 24.31 percent in electricity and gas production and distribution, and 56.26 percent in water supply.

Looking at the annual changes of the main industrial groups, an increase of 22.33 percent in intermediate goods, 33.07 percent in durable consumer goods, 33.91 percent in non-durable consumer goods, 25.05 percent in energy and 27.27 percent in capital goods was recorded.

In the monthly changes of the 4 sectors of the industry, there was an increase of 3.25 percent in mining and quarrying, 1.83 percent in manufacturing and 2.36 percent in water supply, while there was a 1.16 percent decrease in electricity and gas production and distribution.

Looking at the monthly changes of the main industrial groups, an increase of 1.57 percent in intermediate goods, 3.95 percent in durable consumer goods, 2.43 percent in non-durable consumer goods and 1.18 percent in capital goods, and a decrease of 0.65 percent in energy were recorded.

According to Turkish Statistical Institute data, CPI increased by 2.55 percent in October compared to the previous month, 28.63 percent compared to December last year, 32.87 percent compared to the same month last year and 37.15 percent compared to 12-month averages.

In terms of main expenditure groups, the lowest increase in October compared to the previous month was in education with 0.08 percent. The main group with the highest increase in the said period was clothing and shoes with 12.42 percent.

Monthly changes in the three main expenditure groups with the highest weight were recorded as an increase of 3.41 percent in food and non-alcoholic beverages, 1.07 percent in transportation and 2.66 percent in housing.

The effects of the relevant main groups on the monthly change were 0.83 percent increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages, 0.16 percent increase in transportation and 0.45 percent increase in housing.

ANNUAL CHANGES

The main group that showed the least increase in October compared to the same month of the previous year was recorded as clothing and shoes with 7.98 percent. The main group with the highest increase compared to the same month last year was determined to be education with 65.69 percent.

Looking at the annual changes of the three main expenditure groups with the highest weight, there was an increase of 34.87 percent in food and non-alcoholic beverages, 27.33 percent in transportation and 50.96 percent in housing.

The effects of the relevant main groups on the annual change were 8.44 percent increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages, 4.34 percent increase in transportation and 7.75 percent increase in housing.

There was a decrease in 18 of the 143 basic headings covered in the index, there was no change in 7 basic headings, and there was an increase in 118 of them.

SPECIAL COMPREHENSIVE CPI INDICATORS

The change in CPI, excluding unprocessed food products, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and gold, was 2.43 percent in October compared to the previous month, 29 percent compared to December last year, 32.52 percent compared to the same month last year and 36.72 percent compared to 12-month averages.

When we look at the special comprehensive consumer price index indicators, the least increase on a monthly basis in October was seen in the “CPI excluding seasonal products” indicator with 1.81 percent.

The highest increase on a monthly basis was recorded in the “CPI excluding administered prices” indicator with 2.7 percent.

The highest increase on an annual basis was recorded in the “CPI excluding seasonal products” indicator with 34.67 percent. The least annual increase was in the “CPI excluding managed prices” indicator with 31.93 percent.
