Police intervened in the march held upon the call of the DEM Party Youth Assembly, demanding ‘freedom’ for Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK. During the intervention, DEM Party Diyarbakır Deputy Adalet Kaya was affected by pepper gas, while the moments when the police sprayed pepper gas on DEM Party Provincial Co-Chairman Abbas Şahin were caught on camera.
A march was held in Diyarbakır upon the call of the DEM Party Youth Assembly, demanding the release of the terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The march, which was held with the participation of DEM Party Mardin Deputy Beritan Güneş, Diyarbakır Deputy Serhat Eren, Adalet Kaya and Mehmet Kamaç and many people, and aimed to hang the Öcalan poster on the Ben u Sen sign in the Sur district, started at the Ali Pınar Bridge in the central Yenişehir district. The group, which walked 2 kilometers accompanied by fireworks, was stopped by the police, who closed the Urfa Kapı location, which leads to the Ben u Sen bastion, to transportation.
Addressing the participants, the police warned them to end the march here and disperse after making statements. The group announced that they would march to the Ben u Sen sign and make a statement.

There was tension between the police and the marching group. After the tension, the police used pepper gas to disperse the group. While DEM Party Deputy Adalet Kaya, who stepped in to end the tension, was affected by pepper gas, the moments when the police sprayed pepper gas on DEM Party Provincial Co-Chairman Abbas Şahin were caught on camera. On the other hand, it was seen that some people participating in the march called the police as ‘enemies’ and reacted with statements such as “We will follow in the footsteps of terrorists” and “PKK is the people”.
After the tension ended, a statement was made in Kurdish and the participants of the march dispersed.
