Grieving Community Mourns Loss of Maggie Lee, Beloved Irish Mother
On Valentine’s Day, February 14th, Maggie Lee, affectionately known as Mag, passed away peacefully at the Beechwood Nursing Home in Newcastlewest at the age of 90.
A Lasting Legacy
Maggie was the cherished daughter of Tom Lee and Maggie Swift. Her life was filled with love from a supportive family and a wide circle of friends. She was predeceased by her son Adrian and her brothers Willie and Dan, along with her sisters-in-law Peggy and Mary, leaving an indelible mark on each who knew her.
Beloved Wife and Adored Mother
Maggie’s love was best exemplified in her role as a beloved wife to Jimmy. Her dedication as a loving mother shone through her upbringing of Geraldine and Deirdre, Liam, Tom, and Seamus. Maggie’s family grew to encompass 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, a testament to her enduring legacy of love.
Her daughters-in-law, Mary O’Sullivan and Jo Barry, and her sons-in-law, Neil O’Connor and Claude Keane, knew Maggie as a warm and caring figure who held family close. Maggie was also supported by her nieces, nephews, and a broad network of relatives who cherished her.
Community and Care
The community rallied around Maggie and her family during her final days. The compassionate staff at Beechwood Nursing Home provided excellent care and support, a fact that Maggie’s family deeply appreciates. Their commitment to Maggie brought comfort in the tough months leading up to her passing.
Celebration of Life
Maggie’s journey comes to a beautiful close with her family and friends coming together to celebrate her life. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at O’Malley’s Funeral Home in Newline, Charleville. The visitation hours are from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday evening, with a prayer service at 6 pm.
On Monday morning, the community will gather at St. Joseph’s Church in Newtownshandrum for a 11 am Requiem Mass to remember Maggie’s kindness and spirit. Following the service, a funeral procession will take place to Colemanswell Cemetery.
The family has expressed their gratitude to all who have supported them during this difficult time. They ask that any messages of sympathy be posted to O’Malley’s Funeral Directors, Charleville.
