Strategic Acquisitions: ASV Schaafheim Strengthens Roster
ASV Schaafheim is making notable moves to enhance its wrestling program, securing key international athletes and seasoned returnees. Thes strategic acquisitions aim to compensate for recent departures and solidify thier competitive edge in both the Oberliga and Hessenliga.
Freestyle Reinforcements: Cuban National Joins the Fray
Alexej Alvarez blanco,a 31-year-old freestyle wrestler, has signed with ASV Schaafheim to compete in the 57-kilogram weight class. Alvarez Blanco, formerly a member of the Cuban national team, brings a wealth of international experience to the club. After leaving Cuba in 2022, he wrestled for SV Johannis Nuremberg in the German first division during the 2023 season, achieving a record of three wins and four losses. His addition addresses a critical need, as Mohammed Shirzad found it increasingly challenging to meet the flyweight limit.
The Central American’s commitment became necessary because the previous Schaafheim flyweight Mohammed Shirzad has become too tough for this limit.
The signing of Alvarez Blanco reflects a growing trend in European wrestling, where clubs are increasingly recruiting international talent to bolster their rosters. For example, in the German Bundesliga, it’s not uncommon to see teams composed of athletes from various countries, all competing for the coveted championship title.
Greco-Roman Expertise: Romanian Vice European Champion Arrives
In another significant move, Florin Tita, a multiple Romanian champion and 2019 Vice European Champion, is joining ASV Schaafheim.Tita will compete in the Greco-Roman classes, specifically in the 57 and 61-kilogram weight categories. His extensive experience includes stints with Witten, Markneukirchen, Weingarten, and most recently, SV Hallbergmoos.Notably, Tita has already integrated into the Schaafheim community, residing and working in the Bachgau region.

He became a father a few weeks ago and settled here with child and wife.
The club played a pivotal role in assisting Tita with his job search, demonstrating their commitment to supporting their athletes both on and off the mat. This long-term investment signals ASV Schaafheim’s intention to benefit from Tita’s skills for an extended period. Alongside Denis Demirov from SC Großostheim and Javier Dumenigo Gonzalez from AC Goldbach, Tita is expected to dominate the Oberliga competition.
Returning Veterans: Pusch and Dreglea Boost Team Depth
ASV Schaafheim welcomes back two familiar faces: Tom Pusch and Anatoli Dreglea. Pusch, competing in the 71-kilogram Greco-Roman division, returns after a period in Nuremberg. Although currently residing in Innsbruck,he plans to participate in select matches for his primary club in the fall. Dreglea, known for his dynamic performances before and after the COVID-19 pandemic, also rejoins the team after a two-year hiatus from league competition. He remained active in the Schaafheim training group.

While celebrating these acquisitions, ASV Schaafheim acknowledges the departure of several wrestlers, including German U20 champion Eliah Lucyga, who moved to SC Kleinostheim.
