JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The celebration of the Holy Day of Nyepi on Thursday, March 19 2026, has the potential to be accompanied by rain in a number of regions in Indonesia.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) urges the public to increase awareness of the potential for heavy to very heavy rain, especially in central and eastern Indonesia.
BMKG explained that these weather conditions were influenced by cyclonic circulation activity as well as large areas of convergence that formed in various regions of Indonesia, thereby significantly increasing the growth of rain clouds.

BMKG monitors cyclonic circulation in the Indian Ocean southwest of Banten and the East Sea.
This system forms areas of convergence and confluence which play a role in increasing the potential for rain in the surrounding area.
Apart from that, the convergence area was also observed to be expanding in various regions, starting from the waters of western Sumatra, the Malacca Strait, Riau, Jambi, to Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, the Makassar Strait and the Pacific Ocean north of Papua.
This condition causes the potential for rain to increase evenly in many regions of Indonesia.
