A tour bus en route from Niagara Falls to New York City,carrying 54 passengers,including individuals of Indian descent,crashed and overturned on an interstate highway. The accident resulted in the deaths of five passengers and injuries to numerous others, according to authorities.

The incident occurred on the eastbound side of Interstate 90 in Pembroke, New York, approximately 40 km east of Buffalo. State police Maj Andre Ray stated at a press conference that the driver apparently became distracted, lost control of the vehicle, and overcorrected, causing the bus to veer onto the right shoulder and flip over around 12:30 pm on Friday. The cause of the distraction is still under examination.

Maj. Ray indicated that the passengers’ ages ranged from 1 to 74. Several individuals were ejected from the bus during the crash, and five adults were pronounced dead at the scene. Many passengers were trapped in the wreckage and afterward rescued. Dozens were transported to local hospitals, tho it appeared that none sustained life-threatening injuries.

“An absolute tragedy took place,” Ray said.

“And first and foremost, our thoughts, prayers and hearts go out to those involved, their friends and their families.”

State police reported that the majority of the passengers were of Indian, Chinese, and Filipino ethnicity. Translators were brought in to assist with the emergency response.
