Nusantara‘s Infrastructure Progress on Track, Says VP Gibran

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has stressed the importance of completing the core infrastructure development of Nusantara, Indonesia’s future capital city in east Kalimantan, on schedule and to the required quality standards.


During a visit to the development site in North Penajam Paser on Thursday (May 29), Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka stated that ensuring the timely and quality construction of Nusantara’s infrastructure is a top priority.”We are here to ensure that the construction of infrastructure that supports the operations of Nusantara runs according to the deadlines and standards that have been set,” he said.

Gibran emphasized that his visit aimed to confirm that all construction projects are progressing as planned and are in line with the goverment’s vision for the city. “Our inspection is aimed at ensuring that the development of Nusantara is truly in accordance with the grand vision of setting up a new seat of government,” he added.

The vice President reiterated that Nusantara is intended to be a modern, smart, and sustainable capital city for Indonesia.

Upon arrival at the Nusantara International Airport, which is currently under construction, gibran and his team promptly inspected a section of the toll road, which is 70 percent complete. He then assessed the construction of Abdi Waluyo Hospital, which has reached 75.67 percent completion.

VP Gibran then reviewed the initial phase of development at Gunadarma university before visiting the Vice Presidential Palace, which is 42.67 percent complete. He also examined the progress of a residential tower for civil servants (97.09 percent complete), the State Mosque (60.48 percent complete), and a basilica (4.63 percent complete).

Additionally, Gibran visited Hermina Hospital and an office for a coordinating ministry, both of which have finished their physical construction.

Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono noted that VP Gibran’s visit to Nusantara was intended to ensure that the capital city project equally considers environmental and social factors, not just physical development. “The visit of the vice president has boosted our morale at OIKN to continue to work better and faster,” he stated.
