Nuki Smart Hosting: New Functionality Revealed

Nuki announced this new function as early as the summer of 2024, but then it took a little longer. Now there is good news: Open via Webink is now available as part of the smart hosting service. The function is not aimed at your front door and your own Nuki Smart Lock, but at holiday accommodation with a smart access solution from Nuki.

For holiday apartments and holiday homes, where a personal handover of the keys is not always possible, the Nuki Smart Lock is a lot good anyway. With the Smart Hosting Service, which costs 69 euros per year, there are now in addition to smart integrations and premium support, another new function with which access for guests is even more convenient.

The ordinary methods to open a Nuki Smart Lock now joins “Open via Webink”. The door equipped with the Nuki Smart Lock can be easily opened via a link without the need to install the Nuki app or even registration.

This is how the door opening works via weblink

Like all other opening options, a Nuki Weblink is only valid between check-in and check-out. Technically, the door is not opened via WebLink via Bluetooth as usual, but as a remote tax order via the Internet – therefore a Nuki Bridge or a Nuki with a direct distance connection is required. A location comparison between the smartphone and the Nuki ensures that the person is in the immediate vicinity of the castle – long -distance openings are excluded. Of course, hosts have full control at any time and can change or deactivate links if necessary, for example if guests leave unplanned earlier.

So far, I haven’t had the pleasure of being able to open a door to a holiday home via Nuki. Most recently, a very similar technology was used in a holiday park in Holland in addition to chip cards, here too I was able to open the door via weblink – and that, to say German, also saved us the “ass”. After all, you always have the cell phone with you, while you like to leave a key card somewhere in the house.
