Nowitzki & Mavericks: New Basketball Court in Würzburg

Basketball icon Dirk Nowitzki can present a special gift from the Dallas Mavericks for his hometown of Würzburg for the 20th anniversary of his Dirk-Nowitzki Foundation. Nowitzki, who spent 21 years in Dallas and was the first German in 2011 the title of the best league in the world, and Mavs CEO Rick Welts opened a “completely renewed basketball court” in the Lower Franconian city on October 1st.

Nowitzki is quoted in the joint message to the Mavericks for this. The 47-year-old will give a speech at the inauguration ceremony.

What Nowitzki has done “for basketball in Germany and worldwide has had a significant influence, and we are proud to be able to celebrate this life’s work with it,” said Welts: “Dirk is not just a legend of Mavericks and NBA, he is an international basketball legend.”

The club from the US state of Texas has already opened new courts in the past three years in Slovenian Celje (two places), the Spanish capital Madrid (two places) and in Monterrey in Mexico (one place).
