AI is changing mobile now
Nothing‘s CEO Carl Pei believes that apps will eventually be replaced by AI solutions that work in the background.
Apps will fade into the mists of history according to Nothing CEO Carl Pei. This according to the publication 9to5Google. He believes that the phones of the future will instead be controlled by AI agents that perform tasks directly, without the user having to open apps.
According to Pei, today’s solutions, where AI tries to use apps in the same way as a human, are only temporary. Instead, he wants to see systems built directly for AI, where the operating system becomes the central interface and the apps fall into the background.
Nothing already works with so-called AI‑native devices and simpler functions that will replace certain apps. Pei believes that the development may take between five and ten years, but that smartphones as a form will remain even if the way they are used changes greatly.
