JAKARTA, KalderaNews.com – The Northern Taurid meteor shower phenomenon will decorate the night sky and reach its peak on November 11-12 2025. Here’s how to observe it!
Northern Taurid is the second meteor shower this month, previously the Southern Taurid meteor shower which reached its peak last November 4-5.
This meteor shower is in the weak category, with an average of only five shooting stars per hour.
Just like their sibling, the Southern Taurids, they originate from the debris trail of Comet Encke.

The Northern Taurid meteor shower has actually been active from October 20 to December 10 2025.
However, the best time to witness it is when this phenomenon reaches its peak on November 11-12 2025.
When it reaches its peak, the Northern Taurid meteor shower is expected to produce about five meteors per hour under optimal dark sky conditions.
The Northern Taurid meteor appears from the constellation Taurus (Taurus), which is the radiant point that is said to be the visual origin of the meteor.
The meteors are slow but bright because the particles are quite large, allowing for longer trails and more beautiful visuals than regular meteors.
Can be observed in Indonesia
BRIN Astronomy and Astrophysics Researcher, Thomas Djamaluddin, stated that the Northern Taurid meteor shower phenomenon can be witnessed from Indonesia.
Observations in Indonesia can start looking at the sky after midnight towards dawn, towards the constellation Taurus when the radian point rises high.
To observe it, simply be in a dark place, sit comfortably, and patiently wait for it to appear.
Make sure you are in a location that can see the sky, light pollution or buildings, trees or hills that block your view.
