Nissan Accelerates its Electric Vehicle Strategy
Nissan is poised to make meaningful strides in the electric vehicle (EV) market, with plans to introduce two brand-new electric models and enhance its existing electric technologies. This move underscores Nissan’s commitment to electrification and sustainability, aligning with the growing global demand for eco-friendly transportation solutions.
The Iconic Micra returns as an EV
Nissan Micra Electric Concept”>The beloved Nissan Micra is making a comeback, this time as a fully electric vehicle. Designed at the nissan Design Europe Center in London, the new Micra aims to blend its classic appeal with modern EV technology. the Micra EV will utilize the Ampr platform, also found in the Renault 5, promising a blend of style and practicality in a compact package.
The Micra EV is expected to offer two battery options: 40 kWh and 52 kWh, with the larger battery providing a range of up to 400 kilometers. Production is slated for Renault’s Electricity factory in France, with sales expected to begin by the end of the year.This positions the Micra EV as a key player in the competitive compact EV segment, which is seeing increased demand as consumers seek affordable and efficient electric cars.
Next-Gen LEAF: Embracing Aerodynamic Design and Sustainability

The Nissan LEAF, a pioneer in the EV market since its debut in 2010, is entering its third generation. The new LEAF will feature a striking aerodynamic design and will be built on the Nissan CMF-EV platform, shared with the larger Nissan Ariya. This platform is designed to maximize space and efficiency, offering improved performance and range.
Production of the European LEAF will take place at Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the UK, a facility undergoing significant upgrades as part of the Nissan Sustainability Project EV36Zero. This project aims to transform the plant into a comprehensive electric vehicle hub, integrating EV production, renewable energy generation, and battery manufacturing. This initiative reflects Nissan’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices and reducing its carbon footprint.
The sunderland plant is intended to be transformed into an electric transport center, where the production of electric cars, renewable energy and batteries will be combined under one roof.
Juke to Join the Electric Revolution

Nissan is also developing the third generation of its popular compact crossover, the Juke. Planned for release in the fiscal year 2026, the Juke will be available in a fully electric version, drawing inspiration from the concept car showcased at the Japanese Mobility Exhibition. This move will position the Juke as a compelling option in the rapidly growing electric crossover market.
