TOKYO, June 5 (Jiji Press) – Nintendo Co. has released the Switch 2, its latest game console, marking the first new release in eight years.
In Tokyo, approximately 100 individuals who won a lottery for the possibility to purchase the console gathered at the Bic Camera in the Ikebukuro store.One office worker, who took the day off, stated, “The first new console in eight years means a lot.”
The Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch liquid crystal display, which is larger than the previous model.It also includes new features such as voice chat, enabling users to communicate online via an integrated microphone.
The new console is priced at a suggested retail price of 49,980 yen.
Most of the software from the original Switch is compatible with the new console. Nintendo has also launched “Mario Kart World,” the newest installment in the popular racing game franchise.
