Free weekend access to the Cotroceni complex will continue indefinitely, according to the Presidential Administration.


BUCHAREST – The presidential Administration has confirmed that the “Open gates at the Cotroceni Palace” program will become a permanent fixture, starting June 14, 2025. The decision, approved by President Nicușor Dan, ensures the public can visit areas of the Cotroceni complex free of charge every weekend.

The complex will be open to visitors every Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00, with the last entry permitted at 5:00 pm.

Visitors can explore several key locations within the complex, including the ceremonial plateau, the garden on the northern side, the Baroque plateau, the Cotroceni Palace Church, and the inner courtyards of the Presidential Administration and the Cotroceni National Museum. Access will be through the main gate on the boulevard of professor Gheorghe Marinescu, with exits available at the same gate or at the intersection of Geniului Boulevard with Cotroceni Road.

During the week, from Tuesday to Friday, the Cotroceni National Museum can be accessed via its dedicated gate between 10:00 and 18:00 (last entry at 5:00 pm). Visitors can choose from several routes: a guided tour of floors I and II for 50 lei, a self-guided tour for 40 lei, or access to temporary exhibitions for 10 lei. Student,pupil,and pensioner discounts apply under the same conditions as weekend visits.

Guided tours in Romanian are scheduled for 10:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30, and 16:30. Self-guided tours commence every hour from 10:00. Tours in foreign languages are offered at 11:30 and 15:30. All details have been officially confirmed by the Presidential Administration.
