Nicaragua announced on Saturday that it had released dozens of prisoners, the day after the United States demanded the release of more than 60 political prisoners in the country.
The releases came a day after Venezuela, under pressure from the United States, announced it had released a number of prisoners.
According to unconfirmed reports, at least 19 prisoners were released by President Daniel Ortega’s government on Saturday, among them several political prisoners. (NTB)
