Employee Generosity Fuels Forest Fire Relief
In a heartening display of solidarity, employees of the National Health Insurance Corporation (NHIC) have collectively donated ₩170 million to aid in the recovery efforts following the devastating forest fires that impacted Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam. The Hope Bridge National Disaster relief Association, a key institution in disaster response, gratefully received the funds.
Swift Response to a National Crisis
The NHIC’s fundraising campaign, held between April 2nd and 4th, saw remarkable participation, with 5,141 employees contributing to the cause. These donations are earmarked for crucial support, including restoring the homes and livelihoods of those affected by the fires and providing essential resources to help them regain stability.

Beyond Monetary Aid: Comprehensive Support for Affected Communities
The NHIC’s commitment extends beyond financial contributions. The corporation mobilized its extensive volunteer network, known as ‘Sky Banje,’ to provide immediate medical assistance using mobile medical buses. Furthermore, recognizing the immediate needs of displaced residents, mobile laundry vehicles were deployed to offer essential laundry and drying services.
We will continue to support local residents who have been damaged by forest fires to return to their daily lives.

Hope Bridge: A Pillar of Disaster relief
Established in 1961, the Hope Bridge national Disaster Relief Association has a long and distinguished history of providing critical support during times of crisis. Their core activities encompass emergency disaster relief, managing national donations, facilitating community recovery, and assisting vulnerable populations affected by disasters. As climate change increases the frequency and intensity of natural disasters globally, the role of organizations like Hope Bridge becomes ever more critical. For example, according to a recent report by the UN Office for disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), economic losses from disasters have been steadily increasing over the past two decades, highlighting the urgent need for effective disaster relief and recovery efforts.
