The Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles can continue to hunt points with its notorious “Tush Push” move in the NFL. An application for a ban on the tactical variant did not receive the required three -quarters majority on Wednesday when coordination among the team owners – according to matching information, two votes were missing.
The topic had recently been controversial among NFL fans after the Green Bay Packers brought a ban into play. At a meeting on April 1, a decision had been postponed, now “only” 22 teams voted for a ban – but 24 out of 32 teams would have been necessary for a rule changes. The Eagles reacted to the decision with a swipe. At X they posted a picture of quarterback Jalen Hurts during a game against the Packers and wrote: “Push on.”
The “Tush Push” move is reminiscent of elements from rugby, the teammates push and pull their quarterback for a touchdown to the other hand like a steam rack into the end zone. Most recently, some coaches argued that the “Tush Push” represents a risk of injury.
The Eagles perfected the “Tush Push”, even in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs around superstar Patrick Mahomes, the team scored this way. The Eagles have achieved 30 touchdowns so loudly since 2022.
“If you forbid him, then forbid him. It is not in my hand,” Eagles-Center Cam Jurgens had last said: “I have the feeling that it is a move that we enjoy and we play it really well. It would be a shame if they would take it out of our hands.”
