New Year’s Concert 2026 “Vietnam – China: friendly neighbors”
On the occasion of the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 76th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations and the welcoming of the Lunar New Year by the two peoples, the 2026 New Year concert entitled “Vietnam-China: Friendly Neighbors” was held on the evening of February 7 at the Ho Guom Opera House in Hanoi.

Representatives of Vietnam’s Party and state leaders, as well as Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei, attended the event.
The concert was under the leadership of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnamese Ministry of Police, with the coordination of several cultural institutions from the two countries.
The program brought together leading artists from the Chinese National Opera, alongside renowned Vietnamese artists, including people’s artists and meritorious artists, providing audiences with an emotionally rich musical space where art emerged as a bridge for cultural dialogue.
Structured in two parts, the concert took the audience from the traditional Chinese musical universe to works celebrating Vietnam – China friendship, before opening up to extracts from classic operas from the world repertoire.
The performed works harmoniously combined the essence of Chinese and Vietnamese music with international classical masterpieces, creating a rich and multi-colored cultural exchange space, in an encounter between Eastern aesthetics and Western academic tradition.
Highlight of the evening, artists from both countries performed the song together Auld Lang Syne (“Hữu nghị mãi bền lâu”), conveying a powerful message of peace, friendship and cooperation towards a sustainable future between Vietnam and China.
According to the organizers, this New Year 2026 concert once again illustrates the spirit of good neighborliness and traditional friendship uniting the two nations, while conveying a strong message of peace, cooperation and common development.
