New VR Headset: Apple Vision & Quest 3 Rival Arrives

Vivo chose China to officially present its first Mixed Reality viewer, the Vision Explorer Edition, a device that marks the brand’s entry into a sector where companies such as Apple and Meta have so far dominated.

For the moment, the debut seems destined exclusively to the Chinese market, with tests open to the public starting from 22 August in 12 Experience official areas. Neither the price nor a precise marketing date have not yet been disclosed.

The viewer is primarily distinguished by a compact design: weighs 398 grams, has a thickness of 40 mm and a height of 83 mm. The front adopts a mirror visor with cameras and integrated sensors for tracking, while Users will be able to choose between four interchangeable dark screensequipped with Foam padding, and two different types of bands: one designed for comfort and the other for greater stability.

On the technical front, The Vision Explorer Edition offers two micro-OLED 8K binocular micro-OLED displays, each with a resolution of 3840 x 3552 pixels and 94% coverage of the DCI-P3 Gamut. Support to magnetic lenses with dioptric regulation is provided e A visual field declared 180 degreesaccompanied by Spatial Audio. The immersive experience is completed by commands through gestures and eye tracing, with the possibility of simulating a 120 -inch screen.

At hardware level, The viewer is driven by the chipset Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 and uses the ORIGINOS Vision Operating System. Vivo also introduced an energy management system called Blue Ocean, which should extend autonomy, a crucial appearance for devices of this type. There is also a full-color passthrough with a latency of 13 mstogether with the support for Spatial Video and Mr/PCVR titles.

A product that, at least in the forms, inevitably recalls the Apple Vision Pro, but which was born with an all Chinese setting and, for now, without signals of an international expansion.
