New Smartphone Pre-Order | 8/10 Rated + Launch Offer

by drbyos

OnePlus’ new flagship, the 15R, has not yet officially set foot on the market and a promotion is already available for pre-order. The 12/512 GB version is displayed at the same price as the 256 GB version, i.e. 729 euros instead of 829 euros, directly on the brand’s website.

We had the OnePlus 15R in our hands before its release and one thing is certain: lower price does not rhyme with lower performance. The latest from the Chinese brand arrives with a seriously muscular technical sheet, starting with a screen that climbs to 165 Hz and an even bigger battery. Still in the pre-order phase, the smartphone is already offering a 100 euro discount on the official OnePlus website.

The strong points of the OnePlus 15R

  • A powerful trio with the Snapdragon 8 Gen SoC and 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage
  • A very resistant smartphone with IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K certifications
  • And a 7,400 mAh battery and 80 W fast charging

Instead of 829 euros, the OnePlus 15R is now available on sale for 729 euros on OnePlus.

The performance before the fireworks

The OnePlus has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 under its guts, and it does exactly what we expect of it: everything runs quickly, everything remains fluid, and the heating is controlled. The OxygenOS 16 interface retains this feeling of control and sobriety that many competitors lack, even if the software monitoring could be more ambitious over time.

On the photo side, the OnePlus 15R does the job, cleanly, without unnecessary glare. In broad daylight, the photos are sharp, well exposed, with this natural rendering which avoids garish colors. At this price level, the absence of a true telephoto lens is felt: no 2x or 2.5x lens to find a detail in the distance without sacrificing quality. At night, the situation is even clearer (or darker), only the wide-angle really does well, the other sensors remaining confined to a secondary role.

On the other hand, in terms of design and handling, OnePlus hits the nail on the head. Flat edges, an aluminum frame, the matte back which resists marks like an old, well-tanned jacket: the 15R exudes solidity. Add to that total waterproofing and IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K certifications and a reassuring Gorilla Glass 7i coating. And the Plus Key, well thought out for quick access to key functions, and you get a smartphone that makes you want to use it without care.

A durable, almost indecent smartphone

The real kicker comes from the 7,400 mAh battery. Yes, seven thousand four hundred. An almost provocative capacity, which allows the OnePlus 15R to last two full days without negotiating, even with sustained use. This feat comes from a new component added to batteries: silicon-carbon.

And when it’s time to recharge, 80W SuperVOOC fast charging gets the job done. The charger is not included in the box, but OnePlus sweetens the pill with freebies upon purchase. The 120 W SuperVOOC charger is one of the options offered, so as not to hamper the experience from the first recharge.

The OLED FHD+ screen focuses on fluidity rather than overkill with a refresh rate of 165 Hz, good calibration, excellent readability, but without LTPO (unlike the OnePlus 15). An assumed choice, which favors consistency rather than fine optimization which earns it a nice 8/10 in our columns.
