Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a veiled threat to assassinate Iran’s new supreme leader during his first press conference after the start of the Israeli-US military operation against the Islamic Republic, Reuters reported, citing BTA.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel “is about to crush” Iran and the Lebanese Shiite movement “Hezbollah”, reported France Press.

“These are historic days for the State of Israel,” Netanyahu assured. Hezbollah will pay a high price for its aggression, the prime minister said, noting that Israel will continue to strike the pro-Iranian movement in Lebanon.

The Israeli Prime Minister said that the Israeli army is dealing heavy blows to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Basij paramilitary forces.

He noted that Iran is no longer the same.

Asked what action Israel might take against Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, Netanyahu said he could not “guarantee the life of any leader of the terrorist organization.”

“I do not intend to send a precise message about what we plan or what we will do,” Netanyahu said.

Benjamin Netanyahu also said that he talks with US President Donald Trump almost every day.

The Israeli prime minister also said, as quoted by the Associated Press, that leading Iranian nuclear scientists were killed in Israeli strikes.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced this evening that it had carried out a new series of strikes against infrastructure in Iran.

Iran’s military threatened earlier today to set fire to and destroy oil and gas facilities in the Middle East if its installations were attacked, AFP reported.

“The slightest attack on the energy infrastructure and ports of the Islamic Republic of Iran will trigger a crushing and devastating response from our side,” warned a spokesman for the Revolutionary Guards’ affiliated Hatam al-Anbiya central headquarters.

“In the event of such an attack, the entire oil and gas infrastructure in the region, in which the US and its Western allies have significant interests, will be burned and destroyed,” the spokesman added in a communiqué quoted by Iranian state television.
