Nestlé Layoffs: 16,000 Jobs Cut – New CEO Plan

The world’s largest packaged food and beverage manufacturer, Nestle, has announced massive job cuts. Over the next two years, a total of 16,000 people will lose their jobs, including 12,000 white-collar workers and 4,000 employed in other positions. Nestle has several plants in Poland.

The decision to layoffs is part of the savings program. Thanks to cost cuts, the company intends to save approximately 1 billion Swiss francs annually (PLN 4.5 billion). The job cuts are expected to affect employees all over the world.

Nestle, the owner of brands such as Nescafe, KitKat and Nesquik, explains the decision by the need to adapt to the dynamically changing market.

Company representatives emphasize that the priority is to maintain competitiveness and further increase market share.

We cultivate a culture that promotes a results-oriented approach, does not accept loss of market share and where winning is rewarded… The world is changing, Nestle must change faster – said the new president of the company, Philipp Navratil.

The company hasn’t revealed which ones yet regions and departments will be subject to the largest exemptions. However, it is known that the restructuring will apply to both the headquarters and regional branches. Nestle currently employs hundreds of thousands of people around the world.

The BBC reports that information about the cuts coincided with information about better sales results in the first nine months of 2025. Nestle recorded an increase in sales in key segments for the giant, such as coffee and confectionery.

Nestle has been operating in Poland since 1993. The company has offices and production plants in several locations in Poland, the company’s headquarters is in Warsaw. Currently, Nestle has 7 production plants located in different regions of the country – we read on the official website of Nestle Polska. These plants produce nearly 1,600 different products – from coffee, through sweets, to children’s products and medical food.

In Kalisz, Nestle runs a food products factory, known primarily for the production of Winiary brand products. There is a plant producing cereal products in Kargowa, while in Rzeszów there is a factory specializing in baby products. In Nałęczów, Nestlé has a bottled water production plant, where, among others, Nałęczowianka. In Nowa Wieś Wrocławska, the company runs a plant producing animal food under the Purina brand. Additionally, there is a Nespresso branch in Warsaw, including an office and a coffee distribution center.

The company employs approximately 5,000 people in Poland. Nestle owns shares in Toruń-Pacific CPP, the largest producer of breakfast cereals in Poland. The most recognizable Nestle brands available in Poland include: Nescafe, Winiary, Princessa, Kit Kat, Nespresso, Gerber and Purina.
