Driven by discontent over the opulent lifestyles of the elite, young anti-corruption activists, primarily in their 20s, gathered on Monday to demonstrate their frustration.

This informal group, largely composed of members of Gen Z, amassed in the capital city of Kathmandu, demanding the removal of the ban imposed on platforms like Facebook and YouTube.

The demonstrations culminated in turmoil and tragedy, with at least 19 protesters reportedly killed during a police crackdown on Monday. Even though the apps were reinstated, the protests intensified due to widespread anger.
