North Carolina is implementing a complete, public health-focused approach to prevent community violence, reduce related harm, and address firearm misuse across the state.
Strategic Plan for Violence Prevention
The state’s first Community Violence Prevention Strategic Plan, released in 2024, outlines a three-year roadmap for applying public health strategies to decrease violence and firearm-related incidents throughout NORTH CAROLINA.This plan serves as the foundation for the work of the state OFFICE of Violence Prevention.
The plan addresses not only the immediate consequences of violence but also the underlying factors that contribute to its occurrence. By focusing on prevention, the state aims to create safer and healthier communities for all residents.
