The afternoon turned again to the disadvantage of the left. The common foundation resumed Thursday October 2 all the presidencies of the permanent commissions of the Assembly, with the votes of the national rally, except that of the finances devoted to the opposition and which remains occupied by the rebellious Eric Coquerel.
The LR Alexandre Portier was elected at the head of the Cultural Affairs Committee, taken over to the socialist Fatiha Keloua-Hachi, and the macronist Stéphane Travert at the head of the Committee on Economic Affairs in place of Aurélie Found (LFI).
These votes follow the renewal of the assembly’s office, where the RN made its return by obtaining two vice-presidents and two secretaries, with the support of the common base. As a result of this agreement to the office, the Marine Le Pen group decided this year not to present any candidate in any of the commissions, and to vote for those of the common base.
The RN considers that the spirit of the regulation wants the presidencies of commissions (excluding finances), go to support from the government in place. He also demanded vice-prepares in the commissions, which he obtained, with votes from the base. The elections were therefore settled in record time.
The only member of the opposition remaining president, Eric Coquerel will start a new mandate at the head of the finance committee. In addition to the management of the debates of the Commission, in particular on the draft state budget, the president of the « ComFi » has special investigation powers.
The strategic post of Buddet General Rapporteur was obtained by Philippe Juvin (LR), who takes it back to the deputy Liot Charles de Courson. That of rapporteur of the security budget remained property of Thibault Bazin (LR). Florent Boudié (Renaissance, Laws), Frédéric Valletoux (horizons, social affairs), Bruno Fuchs (Modem, Foreign Affairs), Sandrine Le Feur (Renaissance, Sustainable Development), Jean-Michel Jacques (Renaissance, Defense) retain their committee presidents.
Left deputies immediately denounced the support of the RN to the common base. “The dying macronie makes the short scale to the fascists, while the RN sacrifices the people for a few positions”reacted the coordinator of LFI Manuel Bompard on X. “The forfeiture is immense. We do not negotiate with the extreme right ”abounded the socialist Arthur Delaporte.
The common base obtains nine representatives at the new office
In the morning, the left has already lost its majority at the strategic office of the Assembly, the National Rally (RN) doing its return to this executive body thanks to the common base.
After the election Wednesday of the six vice-presidents and the three quaestors on Wednesday (responsible for the good financial health of the Assembly), the deputies voted Thursday morning for the twelve secretaries of the office, thus completing its members. He notably decides the most severe sanctions against deputies, or the admissibility of certain texts.
The left had taken advantage of a part of the common base last year to win a majority, during confused votes organized in the heart of the night. But this year, the president of the Yaël Braun-Pivet assembly (Renaissance) wanted a proportional distribution corresponding to the weight of the groups.
The regulations provide for such a distribution, with a point system, if all the groups agree. Otherwise, votes are organized. The left opposed the point system, refusing the entry of the RN into the instances of the Assembly in the name of the Republican Front, but the RN and the common base have agreed to impose this distribution by their votes.
In total, the RN and its Ciotist allies obtain five representatives in the office. The common base (Renaissance, Horizons, Modem and the Republicans) totals nine representatives, counting the president. The left (La France Insoumise, Socialist Party, Environmentalists, and Communists) has seven, the independent centrist group Liot also obtains a secretary.
“I would like to thank each of you for their participation in these elections which have taken place in a peaceful manner and in good order”said Yaël Braun-Pivet after announcing the results. The new office, which includes 12 women and 10 men, will meet for the first time on Wednesday.
