Legendary singer Nam Jin revealed an anecdote about how he dramatically saved his life while deployed in the Vietnam War.
KBS 2TV’s entertainment program ‘Immortal Songs’, which aired on the 18th, featured the ‘Artist Nam Jin’ episode, and 11 teams of junior singers looked back on the history of the 60th anniversary of their debut.
On this day, Nam Jin watched the first runner, Park Min-soo’s performance of ‘Even If I Hate You, Once Again‘, and recalled the Vietnam War in which he participated in the past.

Nam Jin attracted attention by confessing that he enlisted in the military and spent two years on the battlefield in Vietnam when ‘Even If I Hate You Again’, which was released in 1969, was a hit. He said, “I was dispatched to Vietnam when the reaction was just starting. I can’t forget the memories of that time. After dinner, I had to go out for an ambush at night, and the moment I sat down and got up, I heard a ‘hissing’ sound. I had only arrived a week ago, so I wasn’t used to war. Everyone said, ‘It’s a bomb!’ and avoided it, but I couldn’t dodge it.” recalled.
He then said, “A bomb fell next to the table where we were eating. It was 1m away from me. Fortunately, it misfired. Because it misexploded, we were able to do this wonderful broadcast. If it had exploded, it would have disintegrated.”
