Naguib Sawiris presented the Egyptian businessman to the Egyptian government, a prescription for a treatment to pay the external debt owed to Egypt, which is the only obstacle after increasing the improvement of the performance of the Egyptian economy.
Sawiris said in a tweet on the previous Twitter platform, after improving the performance of the Egyptian economy at the level of growth and inflation and the possibilities of the central resumption of the interest rate:
“Fadel, but the external debt pays this is the only obstacle, and its solution is easy for the state.
The total external debt on Egypt increased by about 1.6 billion dollars during the first quarter of this year on a quarterly basis to about 156.7 billion dollars at the end of March 2025 compared to about 155.1 billion dollars at the end of December 2024, according to data of the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation issued earlier.
At the same time, the Central Egypt raised its estimates for the second time to pay the foreign debt service to Egypt by about 1.9 billion dollars during 2026 to about 27.87 billion dollars instead of $ 25.97 billion in previous expectations.
According to the report of the external situation of the Egyptian economy today, this rise is mainly due to the increase in the bank’s estimates of loan installments in 2026, reaching 22.72 billion dollars, compared to 21.1 billion dollars in previous expectations.
