Dual source technology dedicated to sensitive patients
Table of Contents
The Naeotom alpha.Pro is a CT scanner with photon counting in mode Dual Sourcecombining the speed of the two X-ray tubes with the precision of Photon-Counting technology. Designed to meet the challenges of exams on groups of sensitive patients – children, people with severe calcifications or high cardiac rhythms – it provides fast, precise exams and with a reduced dose.
Description et innovations
It is the first CT CT -count scanner in the world offering:
-
Images at high resolution (0.11 mm in-plane) with a minimum dose.
-
Of the integrated spectral information Each scan.
-
And Optimized contrast and a reduced noise.
-
Acceleration of diagnostic performance for rapid conclusions.

Clinical applications (concrete examples)
Cardiology. Better visualization of calcified coronary stenosis, fine evaluation of heart valves and analysis of high rhythms without beta-blockers. Example: clear differentiation between soft tissue of the myocardium and calcium deposits, opening the way to more conservative treatments.
Pediatrics. Rapid low -dose scans without recourse to sedation, suitable for vulnerable children. Examples: Early diagnostics of cardiac or oncological conditions, limiting stress and cumulative exposure.
Oncology and neurology. Iterative monitoring of patients under chemotherapy with 25 % reduction in iodine, limitation of the risk of nephrotoxicity. Example: spectral iodine cards for optimized monitoring of metastases or a stroke of stroke.
Pneumology. Precise assessment of nodules or pulmonary fibrosis thanks to free breathing scans, without movement artefacts. Example: better tissue characterization directing the therapeutic choice.
What the clinicians say
For the Professor Olivier Vignauxhead of the diagnostic imaging service: “This scanner allows more precise and reliable diagnoses with less exposure to X -rays, and opens the way to predictive imaging, in particular for the screening of patients at risk of myocardial infarction”.
Clinical benefits expected at the American hospital in Paris
-
–30 % of irradiation dose and –25 % of iodine use, with potential benefit in terms of renal toxicity.
-
Next to 12 000 patients/an concerned, mainly in cardiology, oncology and pediatrics.
-
Prospects for predictive medicine, especially for early detection of myocardial infarction.
Budget and cost
The press release from the American hospital in Paris does not communicate an official figure concerning investment. According to an estimate published by Cardiological realities (2022), the price of a photonic scanner Naeotom alpha® would be between 2 and 2.5 million euros by device. The model Alpha.Promore recent and with advanced features (dual source, 0.11 mm resolution, integrated AI), should be located in a similar range, or even slightly higher, depending on the options (installation, maintenance, training).
Commissioning and perspectives
The installation took place on August 11, 2025for a first patient planned for August 26, 2025. The American Hospital of Paris also announces partnerships with Siemens Healthineers around research, artificial intelligence and team training projects. Internationally, other pioneering centers (United States, Germany) have already joined the CT photon-count, which scores the HAP in a world movement of innovation.
