Espen Eckbo brought Herman and Jesper to the premiere, but the sons have no plans to follow in their father’s footsteps. – Fortunately, they go their own way, says the comedian.
Comedian Espen Eckbo (51) appeared at the premiere of “The Book of Mormon” together with his sons Herman (20) and Jesper (18) earlier this autumn. It is rare for the trio to appear in public together, but this time there was a fight for the tickets.
– When you are invited to premieres, you get an entourage, and then there was an argument about who should be there. I had to call and beg for an extra ticket, so there wouldn’t be a rift between the brothers, Espen says, laughing.
Don’t follow dad
Herman and Jesper nod affirmatively. Yngstemann, little brother Jonas (3), however, had to stay at home.
– He is a bit too small to be involved in this, says Espen with a twinkle in his eye.
Although Herman and Jesper have grown up with a father who is a comedian, actor and screenwriter, neither of them dreams of being on stage.
– No, we don’t, they reply almost in unison.
– The fact that they don’t choose the stage is to my great relief, Espen announces and laughs.

Mysterious projects
The good mood continues when the topic becomes the relationship between fathers and sons. Herman and Jesper remain silent for a moment, before the elder smiles and manages to say:
– Dad is fine…, before he is interrupted by his father.
– We talk to the psychologist at the family welfare office about that, he interjects.
That Espen likes to joke a little in private is perhaps not surprising for a man with so many marks on his conscience.
– The boys will not have to answer whether I am funny at home, he announces.
What he himself is working on now, he also keeps to himself.
– I have not retired, but I have some somewhat mysterious things in development that I think it means misfortune to talk about, concludes the comedian with a hearty smile.
