During a recent episode of the Marking Out with MVP and Dwayne Swayze podcast, veteran wrestler MVP voiced his opinions regarding The Undertaker’s celebrated WrestleMania streak and the range of attitudes displayed by wrestlers when they are asked to lose a match.

MVP addressed the moment when Brock Lesnar ended The Undertaker’s 21-0 streak at WrestleMania 30. He stated his firm position on the matter.

“I don’t know why that happened… it was my personal opinion that if anybody deserved to have a streak not be broken, it was The Undertaker for everything he’s done for that company,” MVP said. he highlighted the physical sacrifices The Undertaker endured over the years, including wrestling with a crushed orbital bone while wearing a protective mask.

He noted that while the ultimate decision was made by those in charge, the Undertaker had the power to decline the outcome.

“Anybody could have said, ‘No, I’m not doing it.’ Taker is definately one that could have done that.”

The conversation transitioned to the broader topic of how wrestlers manage the experience of losing. MVP expressed his disappointment with some performers’ negative reactions to being booked to lose a match.

“There’s one guy.I like him a lot, so I won’t say his name, but I was really disappointed in how he reacted when he found out he had to lose a match… he was really upset that, you know, he had to lose. And I was like,’Dude,this is pro wrestling,like we all have to lose at some point,its your job to lose.'”

He described these reactions as “having a boo boo face,” a phrase used to mock those who throw tantrums backstage due to creative decisions.

MVP clarified that while a select few in the industry-such as Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, or steve Austin-possess enough influence to object, most wrestlers are expected to maintain a professional demeanor.

Navigating Losses in Professional Wrestling

“At the end of the day, we all have a job… It’s a matter of professionalism… this is what the boss wants, and this is how the game goes.”

He mentioned the well-known rumor about jeff Jarrett allegedly negotiating for more money to lose to Chyna,illustrating how some navigate the politics of losing.“Sometimes it takes more money,” MVP acknowledged.

Ultimately, he stressed the importance of professionalism over ego.

“At the end of the day, we all have a job… It’s a matter of professionalism. You want to have a boo boo face, and you want to complain and have a tantrum and okay, you’re not being a pro. There’s lots of times that professionals feel like I shouldn’t lose this match, but this is what the boss wants, and this is how the game goes.”
