The story: It was in 1999, on the lovely Greek island of Kalokairi that the romantic adventure began, in an isolated Mediterranean hotel, Villa Donna, run by Donna, her daughter Sophie and Sophie’s fiancé, Sky. Just in time for her upcoming wedding, Sophie nervously mails three invitations to three very different men, one of whom she thinks is her father. From three points on the globe, three men prepare to return to the island – and to the woman – who had enchanted them 20 years earlier.
Adapted from the hit show based on the songs of ABBA, the film is a huge party bringing together stars like they’ve never been seen before. Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Amanda Seyfried, Julie Walters are all at the top of their game singing and celebrating love, friendship and freedom, all against a backdrop of idyllic Greek landscapes. Nothing like ending the year in song and in the sun!
