Mugdha Sinha brings a wealth of experience to the role, boasting 26 years in public policy and international trade negotiations. Her career trajectory showcases a commitment to cultural promotion and economic development, making her a fitting choice to lead the ITDC. Prior to this appointment,she served as a Director at the Ministry of Tourism,where she spearheaded the GLAM (Galleries,Libraries,archives,and Museums) department and played a pivotal role in organizing major events in 2023.

Sinha’s professional journey includes significant roles in Rajasthan’s industrial development and investment sectors. She previously served as the Executive Director of the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) in Rajasthan. Her experience extends to addressing critical issues related to food, consumer affairs, science, technology, and culture, demonstrating a versatile skill set applicable to the multifaceted nature of the tourism industry.

As the Secretary-General of Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK), she conceptualized the night tour of astronomical bodies, a project that garnered national acclaim. Moreover, her efforts contributed to the establishment of Hanle in Ladakh as India’s first Dark Sky Reserve, highlighting her commitment to promoting unique and enduring tourism experiences. Dark Sky Reserves are increasingly popular, with destinations like the Aoraki Mackenzie in New Zealand attracting astrotourism enthusiasts worldwide.

The night tour of astronomical bodies gained national popularity, and Ladakh’s hanle was the first night sky protection zone in India.

An alumna of lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and the University of California, Berkeley, she has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Ford foundation Scholarship, Net-JRF Fellowship, and the Manorama Desai Award. In 2020, she was recognized as an ELSA (Emerging Leaders in Science and the Arts) Change Leader and recently received the 2024 Lasakille Devsawai Jaipur award for her pioneering achievements in the cultural field.
