WTA Beijing – Karolína Muchová (29) ended up in the single competition for the ongoing thousands in Beijing in the eight -final round, but in doubles alongside Priscilly Honová (27), it is one step from the first final in this discipline on the highest circuit. The Olomouc native continues with an Australian friend in the Krasožíd and in the quarterfinals together defeated 7: 6, 6: 3 coated duo Anna Danilin, Aleksandra Kruničová.
Danilinová/Kričová – Honová/Muchová 6: 7, 3: 6
Muchová normally does not play and joined for the first time with her friend Honová. In Beijing, the Czech-Australian tandem shows a completely unexpected ride. Already in the opening round, Kristina Mladenovicová and Shuai Zhang climbed the excellent doubles, and the set was not allowed by Sixs of Asia Muhammad and Demi Schuurs, and another valuable scalp came in the quarterfinals.
In the duel of the semifinal Muchová and Honova defeated Danilin and Kruničová, who recently reigned in Cleveland and played the final of this year’s French Open. In the opening act they did not hold the lead of the break, but the set gained a ratio of 7: 4 in the tie-break.
As in the previous match, the second set was completely under their direction. At 5: 1 matches they did not give, but they did not hesitate for the second attempt. They needed an hour and 35 minutes to advance.
If we do not count the bronze fight along the side of Linda Nosková at last year’s Olympics in Paris, Muchová played her first doubles quarterfinals on the highest circuit. This season he tries doubles for the first time.
The Olomouc native has only been waiting for her second single triumph at this level (Soul 2019) for a long time and she could fix her in doubles in Beijing, where she dropped in the singles in the eight -final and did not defend the finals from the previous year.
Muchová and Honova will have time off on Friday and on Saturday’s semifinals will invite an unsettled Japanese-Hungarian pair Miju Kato, Fanny Stollar.
