Mount Snow Skiing: Harsh Conditions & Updates

by drbyos

Skiers in Southern Vermont braved the mountains as it snowed on Monday. Mount Snow in Windham County saw plenty of visitors despite the winter weather. Although, they said it was not an easy day outside. Mount Snow guests dealt with harsh conditions in Dover, Vermont. “The wind’s a real problem. This is probably one of the nastiest days we’ve skied in a long time,” said visitor Jeffrey Kraushaar. The mountain was full of regulars on Monday. “We ski Mount Snow and Stratton and Okemo, Southern Vermont almost every year,” Kraushaar said. It snowed steadily all day, leaving a fresh canvas for skiers and riders. Guests explained they dealt with cold temperatures. High winds also impacted their runs, disrupting their visibility and making it difficult to see on the slopes. “The wind’s in the face. And a lot of people having trouble on the chairlift, it stops and you’re sitting there in the cold, in the wind,” said Kraushaar. Skiers remained positive regardless of the snow. They said they were glad wait times were short at the chairlifts, giving them lots of time to ski and snowboard and less time waiting in line. “We’ve been very lucky. We’ve had a great season, and more to come,” said Matthew Plourde, another Mount Snow skier. Guests said they’re excited the snowy weather is keeping the mountain covered and giving them a long ski season this year.
