MOUNT HOOD FOREST, Ore. (KATU) — The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team has transitioned to a recovery mission in the area where Devon Dobek, 51, of Hubbard, is believed to have been hunting.
Dobek was reported missing on Oct. 31 after failing to return from a hunting trip in the Mount Hood National Forest.
The search, which was suspended on Nov. 7 after a week of efforts, involved over 4,000 volunteer hours near the Fish Creek Trailhead, where Dobek’s truck was found.

The sheriff’s office described the search area as having “minimal to no cell service” and “steep terrain,” some of which was damaged by the 2020 wildfires.
The search efforts included technical ground teams, helicopters, airplanes, drones with thermal cameras, K9 units, ATVs, and cell phone tracking specialists.
The sheriff’s office stated that search efforts could resume if new information or evidence emerges in Dobek’s case.
They urge anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 503-723-4949 or submit a tip online via the “Submit A Tip” form on the CCSO website or through the ClackCo Sheriff mobile app, referencing CCSO Case # 25-022972.
“Our thoughts remain with Devon’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the sheriff’s office said.
The search involved multiple agencies, including the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue volunteers, Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue, Portland Mountain Rescue, and several county sheriff’s offices, among others.
