The Minister Delegate in charge of Bduget, Fouzi Lekjaa, and the DG-North Africa of the German Development Bank (KfW), Daniela Beckmann, signed, Tuesday in Rabat, three financing agreements for a total amount of 450 million euros.
These agreements concern the financing of programs relating to climate (100 million euros), social protection (150 million euros) and the mobility and logistics platform of the Casablanca-Settat region (ONCF) of 200 million euros.
In detail, the climate policy support program (phase II) aims to support measures linked to Morocco’s resilience to climate change and the transition to a low-carbon economy. Concerning the social protection program (phase II), the financial envelope will be intended to support the Kingdom in the consolidation of the social protection project, in particular the “direct social assistance” and “the promotion of employment through active programs and opening to NEET” components. Finally, with regard to the Casablanca-Settat region mobility and logistics platform program (ONCF), KfW’s contribution aims to strengthen rail transport in the Casablanca-Settat region, through the modernization of stations and the development of rail infrastructure and services.
With these new agreements, the total financial contracts between the two countries reach around 7 billion euros, to which is added technical aid of around 500 million euros.
