Unveiling “Operation Kleptis”: A Unique Urban Adventure
Get ready, Montpellier! This Thursday, May 1st, teh city transforms into a giant escape game arena with “Operation Kleptis.” This innovative event offers a thrilling way to explore Montpellier while tackling a timely and relevant theme: data privacy and digital threats.

The Plot Thickens: A Race Against digital Conspiracy
Participants will receive a fabricated SMS from a whistleblower known as “Tsunami,” thrusting them into a mission to foil the sinister plans of the “Twilight” brotherhood. this group threatens to release compromising photos and videos of Montpellier residents unless their demands are met. The challenge? locate and destroy the sensitive data stored in a server room before the brotherhood can execute their digital blackmail.
Cyril Villalonga, president of Mindquest Game, the company behind “Operation Kleptis,” emphasizes the game’s connection to real-world concerns. I wanted this game to have a resonance with reality, that the participants say to themselves ‘it could be true’. For a game to work, participants need to be immersed in reality.
This focus on realism aims to heighten the engagement and impact of the experience.
Immersive Gameplay: Actors, AI, and Urban Exploration
The immersive experience extends beyond the storyline. Players will interact with actors strategically placed throughout the city, requiring them to solve puzzles and gather clues.Furthermore, participants will receive guiding phone calls and even engage in simulated conversations with artificial intelligence to extract crucial data.
Montpellier’s First: A New Kind of Urban Entertainment
According to cyril Villalonga, this type of large-scale, actor-driven urban escape game is unprecedented in Montpellier. To my knowledge, this is the first time that this kind of event has taken place in Montpellier.
Unlike traditional escape rooms, “Operation Kleptis” leverages the entire city as it’s playing field, offering a more accessible and family-friendly experience.Organizers anticipate around 200 participants for this inaugural Montpellier event.
Rediscovering Montpellier: A City-Wide Scavenger Hunt
The game incorporates 12 iconic landmarks and locations throughout Montpellier. Participants will need to actively engage with these sites, exploring their surroundings to uncover clues and progress in the game. Even a simple task like circling the cathedral becomes an integral part of the adventure.
Looking Ahead: A Virtual Heritage Tour in 2026
Mindquest Game is already developing a virtual escape game dedicated to exploring Montpellier’s rich heritage. This project aims to revolutionize guided tours by blending education and entertainment. Using archival materials and interactive elements, visitors will be able to delve into the city’s history and monuments in an engaging and immersive way. The virtual heritage game is slated for release in September 2026, coinciding with the European Heritage Days.
