Thanks to modern treatments provided at Quang Ninh Geriatric and Rehabilitation Hospital, patients’ health has gradually improved.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Chuyen said: “During treatment, my child made very good progress. His arm and leg muscles have returned and he can now move them. Seeing him recover day after day fills our family with joy and gives us more confidence to continue long-term treatment. We also have more peace of mind, knowing that he has access to modern treatment methods. »
The Erigo Pro Rehabilitation Robotic System was put into operation by the Provincial Geriatrics and Rehabilitation Hospital in March 2025. It is one of the few units in northern Vietnam to deploy robots to assist in the early rehabilitation of patients after stroke, spinal cord injury and mobility impairment.
Dr. Tu Khanh Linh (Department of Physiotherapy, Quang Ninh Geriatric and Rehabilitation Hospital) said: “The Erigo Pro robot can perform multiple procedures simultaneously, such as inclined table standing exercises, passive lower limb mobilizations and functional electrical stimulation (FES). Thanks to its sensor system and control software, the robot records movement parameters, allowing doctors to adapt exercise intensity to each patient. The rehabilitation process can thus be followed in a more scientific, precise and efficient manner. »
The hospital has also commissioned many modern rehabilitation equipment, such as spinal cord decompression devices and walkers with partial body weight support system. The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center, equipped with multi-position hyperbaric chambers and a cutting-edge rehabilitation system, is gradually establishing itself as one of the establishment’s specialized development areas. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is particularly beneficial to patients who have suffered a stroke, head trauma, chronic insomnia, burns or other pathologies. The fact that the hospital was selected by the Ministry of Health to develop this center, in line with the provincial policy for the establishment of specialized centers, is a testament to its systematic investment and commitment to improving its specialized treatment capabilities.
Mr. Doan Van Ly (Zone 11, Quang Yen Ward) said: “I suffered a stroke and had to use a wheelchair for four months. At that time, I thought it would be very difficult for me to move around. But thanks to the help of doctors with treatment and exercises, I no longer need a wheelchair and I can walk and manage my daily life independently. »
The hospital is gradually improving its state-of-the-art diagnostic system. In January 2026, it commissioned a high-quality diagnostic imaging service, equipped with numerous modern equipment, allowing early diagnosis and more effective therapeutic monitoring. In particular, the 0.4 Tesla MRI system, using permanent magnets, provides sharp images, perfectly meeting basic diagnostic requirements.
Dr. Pham Dinh Lich (Deputy Head of Diagnostic Imaging and Functional Examination Department) said: “The 0.4 Tesla MRI system with excellent evaluation software allows multiple planes to be explored. It is particularly suited to neurological and musculoskeletal pathologies and is fully in line with the hospital’s professional development strategy. Alongside the acquisition of this modern equipment, the service is implementing a staff training program in order to optimize its use and better meet the needs in terms of medical examinations and treatments. »

By constantly developing and improving its professional skills, the hospital has been authorized, by 2025, to add 161 technical procedures, bringing the total to 1,962; implementing many advanced techniques such as polysomnography, early stroke rehabilitation, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, etc. As a result, the quality of service has continuously improved and the patient satisfaction rate has reached 95%.
According to Dr. Pham Quang Dung, director of the hospital, the establishment will soon continue the improvement and development of specialized centers such as the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center and the Geriatrics Center, while optimizing the use of equipment and techniques already in place. The hospital will also encourage the implementation of early rehabilitation, telerehabilitation and home rehabilitation models, to enable patients to access quality medical services in a continuous and comprehensive manner. This initiative contributes significantly to improving the quality of health care for the population and to social security in the province.
