NEW YORK (AP) — Major League Baseball‘s spring training game schedule will begin Feb. 20 with seven games, including the New York Yankees against the Baltimore Orioles in Sarasota, Florida, and the Cubs against the White Sox in Mesa, Arizona.
The schedule announced Wednesday also includes games from Arizona-Colorado, San Diego-Seattle and Kansas City-Texas on the first day, plus Boston against Northeastern University and the Minnesota Twins against the University of Minnesota.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, brand new World Series champions, will open their games on February 21 against the Los Angeles Angels in Tempe, Arizona.
A total of 14 games will be staged on March 3 and 4 in which MLB teams will face teams preparing for the World Baseball Classic.
In the state of Arizona, the United States will play the San Francisco Giants on March 3 and the Colorado Rockies the next day, both at spring training stadiums in Scottsdale. Mexico will first face Arizona in Scottsdale and then against the Dodgers in Glendale.
In Florida, Puerto Rico will play in Fort Myers first against Boston and then against Minnesota. Venezuela will do it in West Palm Beach against Houston and Washington. Panama will play against the Yankees in Tampa and Detroit in Lakeland. Colombia will have action against Pittsburgh in Bradenton and Atlanta in North Port.
The rivals of the Dominican Republic did not transcend.
The third edition of the “Spring Breakout”, which involves games between the best prospects, will be played from March 19 to 22.
The A’s and Angels will play March 7-8 in Las Vegas, where the A’s will play six regular-season games from June 8-14. The A’s plan to move to Las Vegas for the 2028 season.
In preparation for the start of the Major League Baseball season in San Francisco on March 25, the Yankees will play exhibition games against the Cubs on March 23 and 24, the same days Detroit will play the Cubs to prepare for its March 26 opener in San Diego.
Regular-season stadium exhibition games on March 22-24 include the Dodgers-Angels series, a two-game Orioles-Nationals series, a Royals series at Texas, a Cleveland series at the Arizona Diamondbacks and a Cincinnati series at Milwaukee.
